TMNT: Back to the Sewers Pre-talkback

Well, I'd say it depends on how much the writers refer back to the old seasons. We know that that it will have a greater continuity than Fast Forward (which pretty much threw everything from the previous five seasons out the window), but we don't really know if this season can stand on its own yet.

If I were you, I'd probably just watch the reruns 4Kids TV and the CW4Kids is playing over the summer, and I think you'll be in pretty good shape. Yes, and that includes Fast Forward reruns. Like on 4Kids TV, they're going through the more important episodes, so you won't have to watch the whole season. And in all honesty, it's not that bad of a series, it's just that it received a lot of negative attention due to how it was skipped in favor of the fifth season and how it was overplayed way too much.

Yeah, I'd agree. Given how the last blog update was all about Fast Forward, and how Viral's former boss, Sh'Okanabo, was the Big Bad for that season, it will probably end up being at least somewhat important. If you want to limit yourself to "arc" episodes, here are the ones you should see.

1)Future Shell-Shock (introduces premise)
2) Obsolete (introduces Big Bad #1 and Inuwashi Gunjin)
3) Home Invasion (introduces Viral and Big Bad #2)
4) Playtime's Over (not an arc episode, but still really fun, IMO)
5) Bishop to Knight (arc episode, reintroduces Bishop and introduces Torbin Zixx)
6) Night of Sh'Okanabo (arc episode)
7) Clash of the Turtle Titans (really fun non-arc episode, with several call-backs to previous seasons)
8) Fly Me to the Moon (arc episode)
9) Invasion of the Body Jacker (arc episode)
10) The Freaks Come Out at Night... (arc episode)
11) Bad Blood (arc episode)
12) Timing is Everything (arc episode)
13) Milk Run (tangentially related to arc, and just a cool episode in general).
14) The Fall of Darius Dun (arc episode)
15) Turtle X-tinction (arc episode)
16) Head of State (Bishop episode)
17) D.N.A. is Thicker Than Water (non-arc episode that might turn out to be important).
18) The Day of Awakening (Sh'Okanabo arc finale).

Also, note that, despite the impression that list gives, there are actually two major arcs running throughout the season. Both eventually intersect; one eventually gets resolved.

Yes it did.

The fact that they're actually using the Volume 4 design for Splinter this season is a bit surprising. I mean, has enough time really passed between Fast Forward and this to have Splinter sporting a long white beard?

I have high hopes for this season, so they'd better not let me down.

Cyber Shredder, eh? Makes Fast Forward almost watchable. What the hell is happening here? The 2003 TMNT is probably my favorite cartoon series of all time, up until Fast Forward. Then they make me believe that after FF they're going to be returning to how great the cartoon used to be. And I hate this cheap streamlined animation, but I was gonna look past it, until Cyber Shredder. Ughhh...

We knew about Cyber Shredder since the day Back to the Sewers was announced, so it's not like this should be a surprise.

Plus, at least this plotline is better than the whole "TURTLES RETURN WITH THEIR TODDLER SELVES" crud.

Exactly. If it really is who people are guessing it is, this should add a nice bit of a twist to the storyline so far.

Plus...

If Viral was a major threat back in 2105, just imagine what she'll be like to the technology in 2008!
