TMNT Back to the Sewer Talkback: Episode 7.12 "Super Power Struggle" (Spoilers)

The thing that sucks is, the TMNT writers have ended pretty much EVERY season on a cliffhanger:

1- The Turtles get transported to space.
2- The Triceraton forces approach Earth.
3- The Ninja Turtles return home after a close encounter with Shredder.
4- The Ninja Tribunal appears.
5- No cliffhanger.
FF- The Turtles don't return home.

I agree with ToD. The writers should have realized that the show was obviously running out of steam and should've been prepared in case it got nixed. And knowing them, they probably ended this season on a massive cliffhanger, as per usual. They should take cues from the writing staffs of other TV shows like Justice League.

Who's to say they wouldn't end it on another cliffhanger with dangling plots? I like the people who work on this show but some of their decisions are just plain terrible.

Because if they were told right from the start this would be the last season, they would make every episode important and wrap up everything possible.

BTTS wasn't written as if it was going to be the final season, you can tell they at least thought it would get 26 eps.

No one needed to tell them. They were partnered with Playmates after all, and those guys were responsible for most of the series bad decisions. They should have assumed Playmates would screw them over yet again and thus prepare for the worst from the beginning of season 7.

That's what I would have done anyway.

Season 3 had no cliffhanger. The series could've ended right there (though really, that was the worst cop-out finale ever).

Fact is, we really *don't* know what the thinking was behind planning this season. All the other seasons that ended on a cliffhanger did so because the crew was given a green light well in advance of the usual season pick-ups, and just continued writing. The only times this backfired was when A)the Ninja Tribunal season was held back and B) when season 2 of Fast Forward was stopped during pre-production.

Everyone here wishes the show got another season, but there's no proof that the creators were led into believing they had more episodes to work with, then got the rug yanked from under them. It's more simply a case of the show being produced under different mandates and guidelines now, and the higher-ups just don't care for big, epic finales.

For that matter, do we know this week's episode was supposed to air in this order? City Under Siege could actually be the penultimate episode and was just aired before the usual holiday break.

Exactly. And people tend to forget that most of the original staff working on this show are gone now (a lot of new faces jumped on board around Ninja Tribunal and Fast Forward), so we shouldn't expect this to be the same show anymore. The current writers today aren't going to write the series the same way it was done five years ago.

That's what I've been trying to say for months.

Actually, we do. Raph mentioned Shredder being dead. And Kahn reappears in the next episode.
