TMNT 2K3....Cancelled?

I'm not going to jump to the worst outcome until someone actually working on the show comes out and confirms it, but this guy from the Technodrome Forums has connections with someone at 4Kids:

If this is true, then at least the show had a good run...

But jeez, ending the only thing keeping the franchise alive DURING IT'S 25TH ANNIVERSARY? Really 4Kids, I can get over the fact that this would mean 2K3 will never surpass 87' in episode count, but it really bums out any "Shellebrations" that will be going on.

Oh well, at least we go out with a bang (the anniversary movie)...

I think it'd be best. I stopped watching when Fast Forward showed up and the Lost season I wasn't a big fan of. That being said what more could they do after those 2 seasons? Seemed like the reboot was a waste.

Well, Peter Laird had suggested that the show was ending this season. But hey, it had one of the best runs for an American cartoon this generation. That's something the cast and crew can be really proud of.

Obviously this season finale won't be an effective wrapup to the series, but hopefully 4Kids has SOMETHING planned to close all the remaining plot points the series has. It seems the DTV isn't going to have anything to do with that.

While I am sad to see it go it has had one of the longest runs for a Saturday morning Cartoon in a long time, thats quite impressive really. Well Turtles go out with a bang.

Neither confirmed nor denied by anyone officially connected.

Peter Laird has stated numerous times that he'd like the show to go beyond the 192 episode count of the original, and I think he's stated he'd like it to go at least untill a possibly movie 5 deal was reached for promotion.

He's also stated that Back to the Sewers was a confirmed 13 episode season, not a half season like Fast Forward was.

It wouldn't surprise me. The series just isn't as profitable as it used to be. In fact, I'm actually surprised it lasted this long. In most other countries, they stopped airing the series years ago.

That would be a real shame, but it had a hell of a run and you can't blame 4Kids for not having commitment to the property. It's in its seventh broadcast season, which nowadays is definitely something to be proud of.

I'll miss it, but sometimes you've just got to let things go.

Wow, I hope this is just a rumor, cause right now thats all it is.

I had hoped the series would get one more season after BttS, and if it doesn't than I hope BttS has a proper ending. I have a feeling it doesn't though.

7 seasons and a DTV isn't bad, considering that nowadays you're lucky if a cartoon even gets past 3 seasons. Still, I hope the series gets closure, cause I can't stand when shows just end with a regular episode.

I really doubt this is the last time we'll be seeing the Turtles. I'm sure another company will pick up the license and put their own spin for the franchise in the future, even if it is years from now. Series like this always come and go, only to return years later for another generation, thats just the way this business runs.

Don't forget that they're also suppose to be making a sequel to TMNT.

It'll be awhile before another company picks the franchise up, but to say that this is the last we'll see of the Turtles for good is an over exaggeration.

I don't know that much about the online fan base for TMNT, but it would be a shame if BttS was the last season. The show has a great run and all, but I would be hoping that they would have at least one more season in case that this season doesn't rap up the storyline. Besides that, it is the franchise' twenty-fifth anniversary, I have heard Peter Laird mentioning before how he would want this series to go longer than the 80s series and I would think that they would keep the series around at least until some time after the sequel to TMNT comes out. Of course, I also would like to hear something about this from someone directly connected to series, like one of the voice actors or it's mentioned in a press release statement, since it is still a rumor until something like that comes up.

this is definitely not the end of the tmnt and this rumor hasnt been confirmed by anyone anywhere. laird said in an interview last week that they were very close to signing a deal to get the next movie made and the announcement on that would probably be coming soon. plus they have a lot of plans for stuff going in on 2009 for the 25th anniversary. i would be very surprised if this was the last season of the 2k3 show.
