TMNT 2003 Question

Does anyone know which stories in the TMNT 2003 cartoon were based off the original comic and which ones were original stories? Im thinking some of one-shot eps (like the one involving the investigative tv show) were made just for the show, but im not sure as ive never gotten a chance to read the original 1984 comic.

It's hard to say exactly. Some episodes were completely new and some were near-perfect adaptions of the comics (like the Jack Kirby episode), but a lot of episodes are extremely debatable. The City at War arc, for example, was only loosely based on the City at War arc from the comics (and parts of that storyline were already used for different things earlier in the series). Other times, you'll get an episode that has a lot of obvious comic homages that doesn't match up to any specific comic story. In a few cases, they even used a comic story as a B-plot in an otherwise original episode.

Generally speaking, the longer the series went on, the less it started taking from the comics.

The Technodrome forums has a thread talking about which episodes were comic adapations and which had homages to the comics. Quite a few episodes from seasons 1 and 2 were based on the comics and as others have said nods to the comics were more prevalant than actual adaptations as the show went on.

I haven't actually read the actual comics myself. I mean I've seen some online, but not a lot. I'm pretty sure that "Meet Casey Jones," "The Shredder Strikes," "The King," "The Shredder Strikes Back," "Tales Of Leo," and "Return To New York" are all at least loosely based on the original comics.
