TMN Online now available to Bell TV subs

For those on the new A LA CARTE platform in Quebec, this TMN or Family online feature does not work.

Even though I am subbed to these channels A LA CARTE, the website says that I am not subbed to the proper theme pack.

Obviously, I would not have the theme packs if I am on A LA CARTE platform.

Bell TV needs to smarten up before they launch something and ensure that everything works.

I guess I become the 'test market' since Quebec is first with A LA CARTE.

That's a BIG drawback but not unexpected. It really limits use on non-MS platforms and media players. DRM on something like this is expected. To tie it into a proprietary protocol makes it 10 times worse. MS strikes again.

I get the you do not subscribe message on TMN too - don't understand why they take no action on the issues that are identified with the new A La Carte System.

This is a great idea however I am wondering if any HD content will be added and like others have said, if you will be able to stream this through XBOX 360 or PS3. I tried it out and the screen is very small so I tried the full screen and it really diminished picture quality. If they do this right, this can be a GREAT service...

Along with the Super Ecran subscribers across Canada.

Plus I have a grand fathered ultimate package that includes the family channel. Web site says I'm not subscribed to the family 1 package.
Typical Bell innovation - in line with the customer service.

This only available to TMN customers, there for not available to customers in the west where we only have access to Movie Central. I tried to use it stopped me when I hit play with............

"Our records indicate that you do not subscribe to the The Movie Network

TMN Online, including the ability to watch movies and TV series online, is a free service offered only to The Movie Network subscribers. Please click on the link below and follow the instructions to subscribe to The Movie Network"

So to me this makes this a TMN service not a Bell service.

Next, they should release an iPhone app to support this service. That would be awesome : watch TMN movies while commuting.

I just received a letter from BellTV which indicates that Bell TV is putting the Movie Network online.

The letter says that you can watch the Movie Network from anywhere as long as you have internet access.

It doesn't seem to work for me even though I subscribe to the Movie Network (I'm using Firefox). Anyone able to access this site and log in?

Why would he switch to the new plans?

TMN Online is supposed to be free for anyone who has TMN, regardless of what type of plan he is on.

Frankly, this is a BellTV goof and they should fix it ASAP.

Any Bell employees out there reading this??? Perhaps they can provide an ETA to get this problem fixed for anyone who is not on the typical Theme Pack platform.

I used Internet Explorer. Not sure that it is even supported in Firefox. I tried accessing TMN Online with Firefox but it hung. Tried again with IE8 on WinXP and it worked after installing Silverlight. The site was extremely slow. I had to wait ages for the login to appear and then again for it to complete. A screen with links to trailers came up. The trailer screen also had a watch button. After pressing the watch button, the movie appeared fairly quickly.

I was seriously underwhelmed by the movie offering. The picture quality was poor. You Tube HD is vastly superior. The movie also lacked DD5.1 sound and had a simple PCM stream. Seriously folks, is this the next big thing in Canadian TV? I think not.

My HTPC is connected to my widescreen TV. Unlike the BellTV service, it provides 1920x1080p resolution as well. All I am waiting for is some decent content.

this is probably useful if your away from your home, vacation, business trip, at a patio, etc. something to pass the time.

Yes, I confirmed that this was fixed under the A LA CARTE thread a few days ago.

TMN and Disney/Family Online now are working for A LA CARTE customers.

In theory I think it's a good idea.

However the implementation is not so good when you consider these two things.

1.) At 900kbps it translates to about 405MB per hour of viewing time.
This might push folks pass their Bandwidth limits on their internet service.

2.) The username / password used to access the service is the same as that used to view / modify your existing Bell Services.
This is fine to be accessed by the primary owner of the account. But I wouldn't be comfortable giving this information out to my kids to allow them to watch movies on their PC's..

IMO Bell now has a marketing response to combat Roger's VOD services but the implementation itself is flawed and inferior for most.

Albeit, it's good for folks who travel, but I don't see it being of value for the majority of TMN subscribers.
