TMN HD & MPIX HD on BEV--> Constant Audio Drop Outs

Would it really take that much effort to run some analogue audio cables from the STB to the AVR? Or listen to the HDMI signal on the TV? Each thing you eliminate or confirm helps with the diagnosis.

For example, if analogue audio works, that rules out that signal.

If HDMI works, then it's not the digital signal, but could be something in the STB with regard to DD5.1 to the AVR, or the Optical connection...

Hi I am new to this group. I am having the same audio drop outs as well. I have found this site very imformative. I was trying to educate a level 2 tech at Bell last night about this problem. As you guys have heared a millon times he said what peoblem? He was in Tronto I think, so I spent more time with him than the last person. I told him that there was whole web sites on the net about this problem and it is all HD recivers that is having this happen 9242.....9200 ect. You would think with the JAMES BOND run they are putting on ch 839 that they would do some thing about it. Every 3 sec to every 3min of audio drop outs would give the network some heat. Well I am heated up, like most of you I have just spent about $5000 on a new LCD TV plus $680.00 on a new bell box. I am an old satellite tech whitch use to deal with these types of problems 10 years ago, for whole cities. So I will keep asking the questions that Bell does not want to hear. I kown I am out of date but I hope to put a fire under them. Becuse I know I am fired up.

I could not check yesterday because my Dish was (still is :() snowed in (wet snow) and most of my 82 transponders cannot get a signal lock :(

Damn you snow! --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWN3OGSMY68

One of my 9200s has this very annoying problem on several channels. I changed from hdmi to component and analogue audio and have had NO dropout since. Also my other 9200 has never had this problem. Go figure.

Just for the record, these dropouts began a few weeks ago. I first noticed them on TMN HD but then on MPIXHD. They last only a split second, but occur regularly every few minutes. I began noticing them on my 9200 but have since changed to the 9242. No difference. The problem appears on other stations, but it seems worse on these two for some reason.

57, do you have an email address or location on their web site that will get through to the right people at Astral?

-Mike

This problem is happening for me on ALL of the HD stations.
I don't have TMN.

Is everyone else experiencing this across the board too?

If I hit skip back the audio is there.

If you get a cool dry day, and you can access the Dish, spray some Pam on it, the snow should slide off.....

I agree with 57 about contacting TMN directly by phone. (Emails seem to be ignored.) This is the only way that issues with TMN HD and MPIX HD will get fixed. Astral will follow up with EV and issues are usually fixed quickly. Calls to EV about HD issues rarely get results these days (though there was a time when they did.)

OTOH, it could be an issue with the 9200. Have you tried reseting/unplugging the receiver and/or clearing NVRAM. In extreme cases where the disk is corrupted, formatting the hard drive might also help.

Thanks Nimiq1, thats' a good tip.
An installer once also suggested to me Armor All car wax.
Do you have a suggestion as to which one would "keep" the longest between that and Pam ?

As for actually going up there... it's gonna be a problem because it's on the roof and I don't have a latter (and I'm a woossie when it comes to hights anyway).

P.S. They are forecasting 20cm of snow in the next 24 hours... which might actually be a good thing as the amount of snow might make everything slide of the dish (I only experience problems with early and late season wet snow... regular snow, however much falls, is not usually a problem).

From their website:

Be sure to include:

Service provider
Channel number
Channel designation
Times & Programmes affected
Type of signal (DD, Analogue, both)

PS. I have rarely had a polite, well worded e-mail ignored. Even BEV has responded to e-mails (even though I didn't agree with or like the response). Note that there is a box for "response required" at TMN.

Wrong thread.

Go here for this problem: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=74184

This thread is about the audio drop outs on TMN HD and MPIX HD ONLY (cannot get audio back by skipping back).

Nothing is fixed :( I just watched 5 minutes of the movie Brick on TMN HD and experienced about 3 audio drop outs a minute. I can also still see the LED's on my receiver blink out during each audio drop out and then come back when the audio resumes normal.

Whatever was done, it has'nt fixed the problem.

Off-topic, but a quick answer. I do not suggest Pam. Although it may work initially, after a while it gets gummy and sticky. If you're in a snow-prone area, consider a snow cover which can totally prevent snow buildup. Do a search of this site for "rain fade" or "snow fade" for previous threads on the topic.

And now back to your originally scheduled programming with a*dio br*a*kup

Thanks 57, I wasn't sure if you had a more direct email address. Anyway, I sent a message and referenced this thread so they know I'm not the only one having issues.

Same thing has been happening on the Movie Central HD channels (on a 9200, using digital audio).

I would suggest NuFinish instead. It's a polish, as opposed to a wax (i.e. carnauba wax, which evaporates within a few weeks), which means you can go for months between applications (I do mine once a year).

On topic: I too am suffering from audio dropoouts on most HD channels. Running a 9200 with optical audio through a Harman Kardon receiver.
