not sure why my prev thread got closed????

But any other info about this? Perhaps it was a message meant for the TLC US feeds..

You might want to look in the HD threads for the HD Information. On top of the Expressve page there is a spot for receivers that get HD.

You mean the MPEG4 1080i on DN # 9488 that all the FTA pirates with modern equipment get?

Oh, I forgot, Bell doesn't carry it, sorry!, And No MPEG4 anytime soon either.

BTW, the girls in L.A. Ink look fabulous in HD!

It was JUST added in the last month or less in the U.S., so if and when it will arrive in Canada, who knows.
Plus the carrier needs to find space along with all the others people are asking for.

You might be waiting a LONG time.

History Channel in the US launched (today?) in HD ... but the version in the US is different than in Canada.

TLC and CNN in HD launched in the US in the last few days ... and both offer Canadian feeds identical to the US (except, perhaps, for commercials). So there is no reason not to think TLC and CNN will be in Canada in HD in the next couple of months.

A better question for this thread: will they be on Bell ExpressVu? or only on that "other" satellite company and competing cable?

Could be some of the TBD's in the "other"'s 8PSK migration schedule.

Oops, now we know who the "other" is, the one actually creating capacity in anticipation of upcoming and must carry HD's.

Sorry my original thread got closed for some reason. I was watching LA ink and notice the scrowling text saying "TLC now in HD" but it must have been for the US market and not us......

Im hoping we get the HD added asap!

Ugh. If I read one more post with ARR crowing about *C, I'm going to throw up.

We'll see who ups the HD ante first.

*C completed a significant step in the 8PSK migration today to increase their ever expanding HD capacity in preparation of several new services coming online while Bev remains static and already behind many asked for programs with no clear roadmap to meet the forthcoming challenges anytime in the foreseeable future.

Before anyone complains that Bell is not offering TLC HD here is my question:Is there any other Canadan provider that has it? If yes, who does and since when?

ARR; this is a BEV thread, I believe we would be reading a *C thread if we cared what was going on with your most favoured highly regarded canadian satellite provider.

Agent Ex Vu; is this really what BEV is resorting to in explanation for not carrying new channels? "our competitors don't have it, why should we?"

Just because an HD channel exists, doesn't mean Canadian TV Providers are allowed to carry it and broadcast it. The CRTC regulates everything (perhaps too much). If it were as simple as streaming the American content, there would be no excuse, but the CRTC doesn't permit that (in most cases).

As said previously, the CRTC regulates all new channels...

The reason for my previous question (If other providers carry it) was more intended to know if the channel was indeed approved by CRTC

If no other provider has it it might be because CRTC didn't approve the channel yet, but if other provider do have it then it's just Bell not carriying the channel yet

I guess that's the question you might have asked because then the who and when portions of the question would be irrelevant.

Quite right, but I didn't open that line of discussion:

But TLC in HD isn't relevant for a BEV thread either, since it's available right now on DN and perhaps some other US providers only, so to introduce 'other's in contrast to Bev is clearly a common practice, particularly to compare who caries what and who doesn't.

It's precisely this type of meaningful discussion that either helps users to choose a different provider or rally Bev to carry the content.

That and our friend Mozza issued a challenge to juicy to resist and the response was informative at least.

TLC HD and CNN HD are good to go for Canada. No further CRTC regulatory hoops to go through. However they will need to sign deals for carriage with the cable and satellite companies.

According to the people with the magic boxes (google) Bell was broadcasting TLC HD programming on the channel labelled Speed HD for a while
