Title & Author for series from 80's about God of Madness who rolls dice?

I remember reading a fantasy series in the 1980's about a God of Madness who kept rolling dice. I believe it was written by a female author and that I got the books from the Science Fiction book club (that would send you a book a month). I lent the book away many years ago and never got it back. I believe the author had a rather unique name (probably why I can't remember it). Anyone know the series or one of the book's names? I think there were 3 or 4. Or the author? Many thanks!
