title and author of a short story ( published on readers digest many years ago )?

there was a man who had found a box made of silk with a grasshopper inside at an oriental souk. he was fascinated by the chant of the grasshopper and had to feed the insect with strange things. at the end the grasshopper died and the man was very frustrated.
