Determined by my highly calibrated and certified temperature indicating wet finger against the axle ID. You can very accurately tell if you're over temperature by an assistant determining how big your eyes get and additional visual cues.

Eyes wide open = 150C
Tears squirting from eyes = 175C
Tears, smell of burning skin and cursing = 200C
Grease leaking out of bearings and oil seals burning= 232C
Aluminum wheel melting into a puddle on the floor = 648C

Is there any photos of the axes? My brother works in the logging industry and I was hoping to get him one for Christmas.
