I know there is a special edition Titanic out, but what is the ending? Do they both live, or does Kate Winslet die this time? I also noticed there are masses of deleted scenes, I might buy this DVD as Titanic is a good film, even though I sobbed my heart out - but if anyone knows the new ending then please let me know.
 
From what I've read, the alternate ending isn't that much different to the existing one, just involving a longer scene with "old" Rose. In which case it most likely isn't anything to get overly excited about.

Also, the deleted scenes (please somebody correct me if I'm wrong) have not been added to the film, and are an isolated "special feature", which is a pity.
 
Yes, don't get excited about the alternative ending, it doesn't affect the main story at all. The DVD is great though, the extras are really, really, really, really good. I mean really good.
 
I was under the impression that the alternate ending was that the bloke (cant remember his name) got the blue diamond of the ocean (or whatever it was called) instead of the old lady throwing it into the sea, thats what was on the advert, the bloke was holding the diamond.

As you can see above my memory is not good, time to watch it again, good excuse to buy the special edition 4 disk set. Am i right inthinking there are two different dvd releases, one 4 disk and one a directors edition or somthing, what is the differance?

Basicly what i am hoping is that everything on the 2 disk version is on the 4 disk version and that the 4 disk version just has even more on it.

Apart from the Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On' Music Video not being on the 4 disk version (unless its in the "and more" part), from what i can see, everything that is on the 2 disk version is on the 4 disk version

Plus the 4 disk version is in 6.1 Dolby Digital wheras the 2 disk version is only in 5.1 Dolby Digital

Didn't Britney Spears give away the alternate ending in one of her songs?

"But the old lady threw it into the ocean!"

I got the Special Edition of titanic today and its well worth getting its fantastic, but dont just buy it in the first shop you see it in cause you can get it alot cheaper in some shops than others. oh blockbusters does have the 2 disc set.

Titanic must be only movie that has ever brought a tear to my eye. I love Titanic its just a shame the film splits into 2 discs on the special version but the picture and sound is PERFECT , im so glad i got the dvd today. :D
 
I remember that after the film was first screened there were rumours of an eventual sequel looking at the lives of the fictional characters after their rescue. I think it would be interesting to see how Rose, her mother, Cal, etc., would get on (although we know what happened to Cal, and also Rose to a certain extent, but still...).
 
I went into blockbuster like 2 days ago and they didnt have the titanic 2 disc set or thr 4th set which would of been better. Ill check this weekend to see if they have it, if not ill buy it on ebay. :)
 
Have a look in blockbusters again cause that is where i got my 2 disc set from of titanic, when i went there on saturday dvd shopping i did not see it but when i went back on sunday i saw it there and bought it for 12.99 . good luck and hope you get it.
