Titanic

I just watched this movie and would like to ask what all your opinions are on it.

Personally, I thought it was nearly perfect (aside from the few wtf scenes, Cal chasing them with a gun..?). I felt really moved after it and still do. I didn't once feel bored and this movie is over 3 hours long. I looked on IMDB and the film only has a rating of 7.3? When searching for it, I was expecting it to have about 8.5 at least!

I saw Avatar yesterday and I think Titanic is the better movie, though Avatar is still the best of 2009.

A feeble unbelievable attempt at a love story using the backdrop of 1,500 lost lives.

A decently well made movie however there have been other films that have told the story of Titanic better such as A Night to Remember.

Ah, Titanic, the touching story of a girl who cheats on her fiance and then lets her mother think she drowned.
Haha, in all seriousness, the scenes of the ship sinking are impressive and the theme is memorable. The love story is just annoying though and I felt more sympathy for the 'villainous' fiance & mother than I did for Jack & Rose.

i went to see it 7 times in the cinema. cried everytime. it started a (now faded) long obsession with leonardo dicaprio. however i think it's immense success was also it's downfall, as it became cool to trash it and act superior to those that liked it. i'd definitely rate it 8.5, at least.

I used to love it...saw it loaRAB in the cinema, bought the video, soundtracks, books, posters...anything I could find....but now I don't even bother catching it when it's on the T.V. I'm not sure what I saw in it the first time. I mean the visual side is still amazing, but I don't love the story anymore. It doesn't touch me like it used. I feel more for the background characters than I do the main.

I went to the cinema more than once to see it, and loved it at the time... I couldn't be arsed to sit through it now tho... I have no patience, and also, it's not that good :D

I agree. If the film had opened with 'ICEBERG!! Dead ahead!!' it would have been so much better.

Although Kate Winslet in the nip is always welcome.

Titanic by name and an titanic film. I liked the fact that it'ss two films in one. You start off with the love story and then it kicks into the excitement of the sinking.
IMO you can't have one without the other. If you didn't have the build up of the main characters it would just be yet another SFX movie.

I've only seen Titanic once. From what I remember, Avatar is better paced, with Titanic being pretty dull until you-know-what happens.

Avatar is probably more annoying, though. There are so many things about it that get my back up.

It's utter dross (albeit dross with an impressive boat sinking scene) and being 15 at the time of it's release I was one of the millions of guys with girlfrienRAB who got dragged along to the cinema to see it.

Well it was seriously hard to make a movie where you already know the ending about a topic which is pretty depressing and still somehow retain a sense of "feel good", if even a sad one.

The soundtrack killed it for me, I couldn't tolerate that whining bitch any longer.

I'm not into love stories, but I thought it was a decent film, if a little too long and drawn out. The production values and fx are amazing IMO.

I love it. I love the story and I think the effects when the boat sinks are amazing. I also find it very touching - I cry everytime I watch it.

I remember the first time I saw it I cried buckets and buckets because it really hit home to me just how many passengers there were who died, and so needlessly.
