Titanic 3D and Box Office profits

A thought just occurred to me. As they are releasing the 1997 movie 'Titanic' in 3D in 2012 to mark 100 years since the tragedy; will they be adding box office profits to the profits of the original release or will it be counted as its own film.

Slightly annoyed that Avatar and Toy Story 3 only overtook it in the UK Box Office because of revenue from 3D ticket sales.

'Avatar' has made $2,761,226,877 worldwide (according to Box Office Mojo), even without the extra cost of 3D prices it would have eclipsed 'Titanic'.

And if you just want UK specific numbers:

Titanic: $114,063,718
Avatar: $144,437,854

That's not ALL down to 3D. I know that's not adjusted for inflation, but it's still damn impressive.

This is one thing that sort of puzzles me about box office takings at the cinema with comparing takings of films over a long period of time.
Surely as cinema prices have risen alot and the value of the $ changing etc since 1997 then doesn't that make make more sense as to why some films take more money now than back then?
