Tired after meals, body hair loss, cold hands and feet.

Hello,
I am a 23 years old male, I've been dealing with some symptoms for a while which include hair thinning and bald patches mainly on my face, cold feet and hands, I get really tired after having meals to the point where I sometimes have to lie down for about 20mins to feel OK again, I do from time to time get pain under my armpits where the lymph nodes are. my skin is often very dry and flakey when I get out of the shower, I'm not sure if this is related but it does seem different than what it used to be. I've seen dermatologists to normal GPs, everyone keeps saying it's stress related without doing any tests, I'm wondering is there anything that I could point out to get the doctors to actually to do more tests? I've got diabetes running in my family, could this be it?

Thanks

Hello, Avron . . . never connected the hair loss before but it could also be a symptom of diabetes.

My husband was diagnosed with the adult onset kind 15 years ago. His hands are often achy and cold but his feet are more so. He also gets very tired after meals sometimes to the point where he falls asleep in his chair.

He does seem to have thinning body hair (chest and legs mostly). You might want to see if you can get in to have them check blood sugar levels, especially if it does run in your family.

Let us know how it goes!

Hello, Thanks for the replies,

I've booked an appointment on Tuesday for a thyroid test. this has been going on for about 4years now, I hope they find out what's wrong with me as this has gotten a bit irritating!

I also get tired after meals... this has been happening for years now, as well. I'm 27/male and my father has type 2 diabetes and my mother has hyperthyroid (Grave's disease.) Lately I'm also getting some unusual things with urination (darker than usual, or foamy) and visual disturbances, trouble with prioperception. My hair seems to be dryer than usual and possibly thinning. I get strange symptoms from excessive sugar and esp. any kind of alcoholic beverage.

I had the "major" blood tests done 6 months ago, and I still had all these symptoms back then. Just got the results recently, everything was normal including thyroid and glucose.. although my glucose was 65 which is on the borderline of the low range. My "TSH 3rd generation" was 0.87 I think, also normal.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd keep you updated, I went for blood tests, doctor immediately refered me to the hospital to get them done. I've done 3 tests (I think!), got tested for anaemia, diabetes and thyroid function. Just waiting for the results now which should come out anytime next week!
