Tire puncture permanent plug?

not many dealers will plug a tire-safety issue
My personal opinion a plug is temporary, I would be gettting a new tire-wait I already did that. Had a tire with less than 5K miles on it, picked up a roofing nail and shortly later a new tire.

I've heard both, that you can and cannot plug...with only 2 tires under me and the risk of compromizing the warranty...I opted for the new tire.
 
When I got a flat around a month or so ago, I went through the same thought process. 2 things helped me make a final decision. First thing I considered was the cost.

1) $100 bucks to plug a tire when all is said and done, and all the doubt to go along with it.

2) $200 bucksfor a brand new tire, taking the rim into a shop, and letting them re/re a new one...and complete piece of mind.

Also worth considering is the power of your bike. What many don't realize is the heat that is built up as your speed increases. As an example, one study I read showed that using a starting point of 100 km/hr, one could expect to see a 60 deg increase in temp by 120 km/hr!

What would it be if you reached speeds of 150+ km/hr?
Long story short, my piece of mind was worth the additional cost of opting for new rubber and avoiding a plug.
 
Most shops will not plug a motorcycle tire, and I strongly recommend against a plug. Some folks get away with them fo ryears, others have them fail the first time they ride, so I am never willing to take the chance.
Look at this as an opportunity- the stock Bridgestone tires on an S50 suck. Get a set of Dunlop 404s, which cost less and handle better, and you will be awed at the difference it make in your bike. Metzeler ME880s are a great tire also, as they handle better and last a lot longer, but they are pricey.
 
I would consider it temporary. And only if it is in the face. I would not fix a sidewall puncture.
I bought a C109rt and got a piece of glass in the rear tire with only 53 miles on it . I fixed it myself with a plugpatch combo and ordered the a new one. Changed it out at about 900 miles on it.
 
First, is it tube or tubeless? If it is tube, get a new tube. If tubeless get a new Metzler ME 880, I had IRCs on (stock) and the Metzlers grip like riding a rail. May not last as long, but the safety is important. I have heard that Dunlops are not great on rain grooves, but then again, that was the salesman talking. My 05 C50s have a tube. Anytime the front tire is no place to take chances. The rear is no fun either. Had two flats, both on the rear.
