Tire failures on touring models

Has anyone heard about tire failures (blowouts, etc) on touring models. I know that several people died this year around Sturgis because of failures and heard of another yesterday. These are not the warranty issues on wear. These are rear tire failures causing accidents and fatalities. I seem to have read or heard something recently about this and just following up.

Probably on bikes where the riders fail to visually check their tires for wear/problems or fail to keep them properly inflated. There are the exceptions but most tire failures are caused by the two above issues. Just my 2 cents on the matter....

Yep... I agree, have seen many bikes with nearly bald tires. Then when these tires fail, Everyone usually starts blaming Moco for using substandard tires, which in my opinion is unfounded!

I start seriously looking at my tires after about 8,000 miles of wear and think its time to replace them....to me it is cheap insurance.....bigal v

I heard about the accident in Sturgis too.
I think there is more to the story than the tires just going bad.
I heard they might have been overloaded, which caused the extreme wear and blowout.
Bear in mind, this information is worth every cent you paid for it.

When I bought my bike the tires were 5 years old but in brand new condition. The dealer told me they were fine because the bike was stored inside the entire time. I changed them anyway because 5 years is about as long as I want rubber on a bike. Tires age whether you ride or not.

I was Sturgis and I saw alot of people riding two up on Softtails with at 800 lbs total weight between the rider and the passenger. I even saw two people on a Sportster that big. You are right that they would be the first to want to sue the MOCO if that had a tire blow.
