Tire chains or cables for low highway speed?

Are there any tire chains or cables that allow driving at low highway speed, such as about 50mph?

After a snow, when there's still some ice on the highway, traffic is generally slow enough that I can drive 30-40mph with tire chains (Shur Grip Z; I wouldn't go that fast with cheap chains) without impeding traffic. But after a day or two the highways are clear and dry, and traffic is almost back to normal speeds, but both ends of my commute are still very icy.

Driving a non-highway route is a long, long way around a big lake. Taking the bus adds over two hours to my commute.

Currently I keep the chains on until the highways are clear, then take them off and drive carefully on ice at both ends of my commute. If I could find tire chains or cables that would allow driving 50mph, I could leave them on longer.

What about the low-profice chains designed for sports cars without enough clearance for normal chains -- do they allow driving faster?

Any suggestions?
