Some of our topics are related to type of governance like democracy vs. communism and etc..

Can you give me some tips in trick to win this contest?? Thanks.. xD

Hehe.. Yeah I'm nervous and I'm not a public speaker type of person... And all of the questions are given to us but some of it are just arguable to my beliefs... ^_^

Hi.

The key to effective debating is having a good partnership. You need to look at all your strengths and weaknesses and find a partner whose strengths are your weaknesses. You need intelligence, general knowledge, public speaking skills and confidence as a team.

My partner and I are a perfect team. I am good at rebuttal, arguments, and general knowledge, whereas she is good at forming a structured debate, logic and public speaking. Together we make an excellent team.

For the debates where you know what the topic is in advance, be sure to do LOTS of research and source everything. For the squirrelable debates, just form a structured argument to the best of your knowledge. Some tournaments make this more difficult than others, so always be on your toes.

Learn about road mapping your debate so that the Speaker can easily follow your argument. Also, always remember to thank the Speaker after breaks and present your argument as if directed to the Speaker, not your opponent.

Give lots of POIs (points of interest). Judges really like when you raise your hand to give the opponent a question. Pay attention to the timer because you REALLY need to fill your time, but don't go over it either.

Never assume you have won the debate until it is over. Always restate information just incase the audience didn't catch it.

If it is your first time debating, good luck! I was very nervous my first time, but you just have to laugh off all the mistakes you make and be confident. :):)
