Okay, so I am a full time community college student. I have a 4.0 GPA after one year and a few extracurricular activities. I have 1 more year of college before I want to transfer out, but I need some advice. My college offers guarantee admittance into the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. I am extremely confident I will get meet those requirements, so that is a big plus for me. My major is computer science and both of these schools have good programs, but want to get into University of Michigan's computer science program. I know it will be very difficult. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to stand out? My high school grades were horrible, a 1.92. Will that hurt me when it comes to transferring into UM? My SAT scores were low as well, should I retake them? Some colleges don't care for SAT scores for transfer students so that would be good if someone can help with that as well. Also, should I even worry about UM? University of Virgina and Virgina Tech are both well known schools which and will be cheaper. But I want to go to UM because of its job connections, gets me out of Virginia, and is a top 10 engineering school. But from I understand UM is 6th and VT is 14, so is it that big of a difference. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
