I'm going camping for a week at the end of the month and will be 24 weeks pregnant by that time. I haven't been camping in years but my friends and I have been planning this trip for awhile and I am quite looking forward to it.

I'm planning to bring an air mattress and a few extra pillows for sure, but there might be other things I haven't thought of.

I'm wondering if anyone who has gone camping while pregnant has any tips for a comfortable camping experience.

Any tips on how to keep cool?

Good bug spray for use while pregnant (bugs LOVE me!)?

Any standard camping/beach activities that should be avoided?

Is there anything you didn't bring on your trip you wish you had? Is there anything you brought that was a lifesaver?

Thanks!

make sure your food is completely cooked all the way through. also bring baby wipes so you can keep your hands clean, especially when eating. doctor told me any bug spray that has 10% or lower deet is ok. i prefer OFF. drink often to stay hydrated.

I went camping at around the same time. And just bring a wash cloth or something to drape around your neck when you get too hot. Make sure you guys have extra ice cuz sucking on it will be a life saver!! Take constant breaks. Your body is doing alot of work and you could pass out easily!! And make sure you drink even more water than you normally would. You want to make sure your peeing alot and that you stay super hydrated. More so then if you were at home dong your normal routine. The air mattress will save you. You have no idea. I had to sleep in just a sleeping back and it killed me lol. As for bug spray, anything is fine in my opinion. Try getting the stuff that is water proof cuz chances are youll sweat it all off. And, avoid things that could potentially make you fall. So no rock climbing or anything :/ But other then that just enjoy :) And bring lots and lots and lots of snacks. :) Oh, and there is a chance that from alot of the extra acticity that you could swell. So when you guys have your down time keep your feet elevated. Good luck and i hope you have fun!!! (and yes its ok to go swimming)

i went a few weeks ago we defiantly brought a air mattress and extra pillows make sure there is plenty of drinking water i brought a couple gallons just for me. no ski doos or wave runners fast boats things like that. i forgot to bring sunblock there is nothing worse then being pregnant and sun burnt it wasn't to fun! lol also if your not to fit or haven't been working out your whole pregnancy take it easydon'tt try to do it all.
good luck

Well, I don't know any tips necessarily to help you with your camping experience, but I thought it interesting, my doctor said that the reason the mosquitoes like us preggos is because of our hightened blood volume while pregnant!!
