I'm a university student and 20 years old. Since moving out of my parents house, I have been dealing with monetary issues for 2 years now; despite my crippling frugality. I got a job, but I'm extremely unhappy because I have realized several things. 1) I do not thrive in the conventional employment scenery (a limitation I understand) 2) Reading up on finance, business, personal calculations and basically anything money from all aspects has shown me that if I take the accepted route, it will take years of wasted time to not only pay off my tuition loans, but get to the place where I can, say, buy a first edition classic book for $350 and sleep soundly. 3) That my talents and hobbies are going to waste while slave away just to live, when in fact, I could be perfecting them and make a living off them. 4) I'm planning on pursuing a PhD. later and want to combine that with my hobbies, so that my life is my work and my work is my life.
So what I'm asking those of you with experience, is; what steps can I start to take now, instead of waiting until I feel I'm ready, which I know will never come. I'm not planning on starting a family, nor do I plan to get a car for a very long time, so I'm able to take a little bit of a risk in that regard. I'm at my lowest point right now and have been reading Dale Carnegie to a little inspiration.
Thank you, and please keep it mature. Insults are just not helpful.
