Tip broke off in the AUX port on my deck...

The very last little section of the interconnect cable broke off in the deck somehow, all the way in.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove it? It seems held in there by the little copper tabs that make contact, and the hole is too small to jam a tool in there...

That's a bugger! I doubt that it would be strong enough because of the afformentioned copper clips, but have you tried a rare earth magnet?

A long time ago I had this happen on a Walkman. Got it out with a dab of superglue on a toothpick. Your results may very. LOL

with a very thin yet strong object like micro screw driver, you can bend the inside prongs of the 1/8 inch mini plug inwards releasing the pressure on the mini plug tip. however you would need to remove your deck and hold it upside down so that the 1/8 inch mini plug falls out with gravity. There are some diagrams of the inside of the port on Google just search for 1/8 inch mini plug and you will find some pics. Be careful putting any glue in there, you can ruin your stereo.

at any good electronics store you should be able to find an extremely thin and long set of tweezers that can reach in there and take a grab of the tip.

I had the same thing happen to me. When I had my J&M speakers installed by the HD dealer, I had the technician try to remove the piece while he had the fairing off. The service technician wasn't able to get it out. I posted here on this forum for ideas; and ended up trying the super clue idea. It didn't work for me. I've tried to find tweezers that are long and narrow enough but haven't been successful. The dealer told me I may need to send my radio out to HD. she said they can usually provide me with a "loaner" radio while mine is sent out; but I hanen't pursued that yet. Since I went to XM Radio with my J&M speakers and amp, I haven't felt the need to resolve the issue of removing the broken piece from the AUX port.

Bah, I'd just upgrade to an Alpine or something if I have to spend money to fix it...

I'm going to try to use some superglue on the plug that broke, and hope I can pull it back out of the deck. It'll either fix it, or make me pull the deck I guess.
