Tingling / Numbness in left foot... ???

I wasn't sure which board this belongs in - so I thought I'd post it here. If you think it fits else where, please let me know and I'll move it asap.

Roughly 10 days ago my husband and I went on a canoeing trip and in the middle of our trip we somehow flipped our canoe. When the canoe flipped, it hit my left hip / buttock area and left very deep/dark bruising.

Starting yesterday I began experiencing tingling and numbness in my left ankle area and it extends about half way up my calf.

It is an uncomfortable feeling and the only thing that seems to help is when I'm up walking around on it or lying down in bed. If I'm sitting upright, the tingling and numbness continues.

Any thoughts on what this could be? I'm not sure if maybe I hit a nerve when the canoe flipped, or what. I'm making an appointment with the doctor soon, but was just wondering if anyone had anything like this happen to them before.

Thanks in advance for reading!

You need to see a doctor right away - don't wait. I can tell you from personal experience that nerve damage from an injury can worsen and become permanent if not treated immediately.

Good luck, I hope it's just a pinched nerve and nothing more.
