The intake valve in the engine bent as a result of the timing belt breaking completely. My mechanic said I can drive with the bent valve because all it causes is a rough idle in my car. The power is fine on the highway; but the idle revs up and down while parked or stopped at a stop sign/stop light. He basically said the cost of repairing this intake valve will be more than the car is worth. My 99 Honda Accord EX has 289,000 miles on it. I just want to know if driving on a bent intake valve, which is causing the idle to rev up and down while in park, will leave me stranded on the highway somewhere, just as the broken timing belt caused?
