timing a ford 4.0 pain in the neck so anyway when number 1 cylinder is at tbc...

i missed your intro but i kinda got it when the #1 is @ tdc bolth valves on #1 will be closed and you can ck it on the har. balancer timing marks abt 5%- hope you got the spark plugs out and w/ you want too ck is tdc in #1 i pencil or a dowell will wk and make shure its long to feel the piston when you take a ratchet to move the crank MANUALY if plugs r out w gloves you can do this by hand rotating it by turning the balincer to bring that hole tdc but dont force it you dont give the yr but im pretty shure that your valves wont kiss any pistons try that for now and let me know w/ happens just wanna help and then we go into cam timming roc just email ill get back to ya .
 
...then should the next cylinder ? sorry ran out of room.. the next cylinder to fire should be sucken in fuel ready for its fire right? so under the tapat cover please describe how the rocker should be positioned directly after number one fires. Im trying to time a 4.0 ford explorer without the special tool needed and no there is no lines on the cam s or gears if u think there is please dont answer cause ur wrong if u know there is not please any advice this is the only way i can think to do it without haveing to have ass put it together and start it to see if im close or not eventually i will find the right teeth im sure unless i smach the push rods anyway.... HELP!!!

there should be a firing order somewhere on the engine usually is number one at tdc and then follow the firing order on the distributor you should get the manual and you will need a timing gun
