HI FOLKS,I NEED TO CHECK TIME ON MY ENGINE AND LABEL ON FENDER WELL SAYS 12 BTDC,WELL THE TAB ON MY ENGINE GOES FROM 10 ATC TO 10 BTDC,COULD SOMEBODY RUN ME THRU HOW TO DO THIS JOB PROPERLY?
AND HOW CAN I TELL IF MY TIMING CHAIN IS SLOPPY I CAN TURN THE ENGINE OVER BY HAND AND THERE IS A LITTLE SLOP IN CHAIN I THINK, IN MY MIND IF CRANK PULLY IS TURNING THE ROTOR UNDER THE CAP SHOULD BE TURNING
THANKS

Here is the scoop on how to check the slack. Rotate clockwise to zero then reverse till the rotor starts to move. Stop. The degrees now reading on the pulley is the amount of slack. A rule of thumb is more than 10 it is time for replacement.
