time warner ? cable internet to wireless?

i am going to put another computer in the house, and has of now there is only 1 and it is cable connected through time warner, also 3 cable boxes. They told my grandfather that the only way we could put another computer in the house is 2 switch to wireless. Is this true? Has any1 had 2 go through this? Doesnt wireless have alot of problems, with losing signals and strength amongst other things or is transferring to wireless a safe route? i never trust t.w. so any1 with knowledge in this area please help. What am i in 4?
