Time Update Problem with N80 and N73

My phones didnt show me the right time, so i manually changed the time in the phone settings. At this point, the auto-update is off and when I tried turning the auto-update on, it shows me a time that is 15 hours behind the actual time. I tried restoring the factory settings and changing the timezone, nothing worked. I put the sim into the older phones, and the time in those phones were correct. I put the sim back into the n80 and n73, and the time is 15 hours behind unless i manually change it. The service provider is Rogers and Fido, respectively. I am in Ottawa, Canada. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

would installing the firmware again fix this problem ???

mine n73 is v 3.0638.0.0.43 nokia N73(14)

Please advice...

also where can i get the latest 3.0649 from ... ??

thanks

ya i have the same problem myself, but the time is 9 hours behind instead of 15. i'm in toronto with rogers...if thats of any importance. having auto-update of the time would be nice...so if anyone can help that'd be great.

and i dont think its the firmware because i've updated it a couple times since i first bought the phone and the problem remains.

Damn I have the same problem , I looked everywhere but nobody seems to know the answer. I guess it is more of a network issue since im using Fido as well

I'm in Vancouver and my E50 is 6 hours ahead if I let the network set it. I did the Nokia dst patch and the network time is still off

been having an auto-time update problem with symbian phones on fido for years now and i long ago gave up on it
iv had 4 symbian phones 3650, 6670, 6682, and n80 and none of them worked properly with the autotime update on the fido/rogers network

I have an E61 and the time is set locally at -3 GMT for Toronto on Rogers (should be -4 GMT) and I had trouble with auto update on Rogers last summer. Never had a problem when I travelled to the States on Cingular.

I'm with Fido in Montreal & the network time says GMT -3. I installed the DST patch on friday 9th. Up until Sunday morning everything was fine & then a few hours later I noticed that it was 1 hr. ahead of the DST time. I played around, even re-installing the patch but it still shows GMT -3 so I gav it up & manually set the time myself. Funny enough, if you go into time zone & choose Montreal, or Ottawa, it shows GMT-4...

well my n80 on fido with the dst patch had to be updated manually
could be for one of two reasons that yours worked and mine didnt
1) i have my location set to london england b/c otherwise my text msg times get all retarded
2) i dont have time auto update on b/c rogers/fidos network isnt programmed properly

ok now something really retarded has started happening on my n80
i assume it is because of them changing the clocks in london last night to be GMT+1 for THEIR daylight saving time
at 1am it went to 2am (because i have it set to the local city being london) and i switched it back to 1am manually but now because it thinks it is GMT+1 ALL my text msgs details under time are an hour off....my call list is ok but the text msg time is messed up
i tried to uninstall the time patch thinking maybe itd help but of course it didnt
anyone have a solution for this? not that its so important id just like to be able to fix it...there seems to be no GMT+00 on the phone anymore - at least there wont be until october
damn i wish rogers would fix their time servers so theyd work properly with s60 phones already!

man, this is frustrating. why couldn't they keep the option of turning off DST?
the patch that was available for the N80 worked without any problems, except that the N80 still has the text message timestamp issue. all messages received are off by 'x' amount of hours.

i'm still waiting for a reply from Nokia to see what they have to say about this issue.

as 'ab0rt' stated here and other thread(s), changing your timezone to one that doesn't have any effect from DST (ie. GMT/UTC +00:00) will 'solve' the timestamp problem on messages and will still allow you to change the time manually.

any other members having this type of problem with their handset & provider? or is this only N80's and Fido/Rogers.. (mainly talking about the timestamp issue).

temporary fix would be to change your timezone to "Reykjav?k, Iceland" so it's '+00:00' then manually set the proper time.

edit: i did a quick search and found that some members have/had this problem with their past phones. i know that auto updating the time with the network (fido/rogers) has never worked for me, so that's always off. but i've never had this problem with any of my other phones (6620, 6630, 6670..)
