Alright, first off, I want to ask what do you think would help the economy?
Now, i will say what i think. Please be critical. lol. Alright, this stupid congress is going to screw over the country. A bail out is not the answer, and i can not believe the idiots running. If you have a problem, dont you fix it at the source? I mean, that seems logical.

Lets think about the reasons. If the bank gave you a bad loan, an adjustable rate, ITS THE BANKS FAULT! Granted, you shouldnt have signed it, but why not force the bank to draw up a new contract? One with a steady rate. That would definitely help out all those people stuck in foreclosure because of adjustable rates. Then, the bank can still float, and the government had minimal interference. I mean, that seems logical to me, fix the damn problem, not throw money at it hoping it will go away.

Now then, about why people cant pay for their mortgages. Gas is high, food is high, necessities are high. Why not throw money at that. The only people who can fix the economy are the people that are basically the economy, us. Otherwise, we will just eat up that economics package and wind up in the same place. Bring necessity prices down, people have more money to pay for their homes, people spend more at stores, etc.

Am I right? Stop the stupid republican and democratic crap and vote on something that matters. Drilling oil in alaska, without harming the environment. Stop speculation, and use the taxes earned by the low oil prices (because people spend more on driving) to actually pay for something that will get us to stop using oil. Why is this so hard to think of? There congressmen, thats a better idea than any of you have thought up.
Birdie, your wrong. Oil that we would get up in alaska isnt on leased property from BP. It is actually owned by the united states (with all the rights to it). And you focus on too little of the topic to even voice your opinion. The topic is congress is an idiot, not who you speculate owns rights to the land we drill on. These problems arent that hard to fix. Not saying it wont be challenging, just saying take out the root of the problem, not throw money at the top of it hoping to solve the cause.

Also, we (as in america) decides the global economy and oil prices. To think that oil is scarce or running low is ignorance. There is no lack of supply, otherwise you would see a lot more countries (aside from iran) moderate and ration their gas/oil. No other country is, so it is mainly based off of speculation at trading.
Atilla, youre foolish to think its just one party stopping oil prices from going down. To blame just democrats is casting a blind eye to the other sides faults. But you live your "my side is flawless, the other side is going to hell" type of mentality. Me, i am a republican but i think i am going to vote for Obama. But, I do agree that Dems are the ones keeping us from drilling. Republicans are keeping us from moderating the speculation side. All in all, politicians are idiots and deserve more than anyone to go to hell.

This is phase one of the so called "revolution" where the government takes over business and the unions "unionize" government, just like in Russia.

Where do you get the idea that WE control where the oil goes that comes from the leased public lands. Once we lease the mineral rights to a company they sell it to whoever pays the most. That's a fact, jack. If you think you can convince the Republicans to change that you are much younger than I guessed you are.

Most of the North Slope oil goes where BP, a British firm< wants it to. They want to sell it to Japan and Asia right now and cannot be stopped from doing so unless we privatize those fields (NIX)...

The Republicans will never allow us to control our own oil. The only way a government can impact their decisions is by taxing them so that they are inclined to see things "our" way. That will no longer happen either. Both parties get too much money from the increasing vast resources of big oil.

Too bad, it was because a lot of good Americans confused by the oil companies "carrots" of good jobs...or the "free market" that does not benefit the country where the resource comes from. Americans also allowed the monopolies to reform again starting from the Reagan years when they started their 30 year plan...Once monopolies reach a certain size only a complete collapse will stop the cycle.

You may get to watch this happen in your lifetime. I hope not. I am near retirement and have lived in other countries and even in a cabin in Alaska without electricity or running water. I can take it. Most people haven't any idea how to survive the way. As an electrician with a failing electrical system in much need of repair I can get a job anywhere but will not give up my garden...nor my fishing pole.
