Time to pull the plug...

I have a 2000 748 that is in the ICU and is on her last legs. She's done 65000 k's and I need to get a replacement.
There is an 04 749 up the road with about 8000 k's on it and it's right at what I would say my spending limit is, what the chief financial officer (wife) thinks might be a different matter altogether though. An 848 is out of the price range I am afraid and I am desperately trying to avoid a jap bike coz they don't crank my tractor.

The mechanic where I get the 748 fixed says that the servicing costs won't be all that different from a 748 to a 749, but I shouldn't have to be replacing worn out parts like I was on the 748.

Anyway, anyone out there that has owned a later model, what's the servicing/running costs like compared to the 748?

Maybe buy a 998? Same body style, pull the aftermarket parts off the 748 and throw'em on the 998. IDK, if I were you I'd think twice about the 749. As much as I love my "race" version, as a street bike I much perfer the 848/1098. As a street bike, they're the best superbikes Ducati has made.
