Time to pick the right phone

So I have a little story to tell you that will lead to a request:

I'm a college student (soon to graduate) & I was gifted enough money to buy the Nokia e75. Currently I have the Motorola L6, which is good, but slow & lacking in functions, not to mention the battery cover is taped & any small bang will make it reset. Hell, talking on speakerphone never worked, the sound would cut off after a few seconds.

So when I saw that the e75 was only slightly larger & was a superphone I got overexcited & almost bought the damn thing. But it's just too much money for too much stuff I won't be using.

After looking at a few simpler alternatives, my brain bogged down. I suddenly felt that unless the phone I buy will be embedded into my brain such that I can use it as you would telepathy, I wouldn't be satisfied.

So, if you want to convince me to buy the e75 anyway, then tell me why please, but otherwise, allow me to tell you what I'm looking for.



I'm technologically advanced, but rather illiterate & indecisive when it comes to choosing a phone. The ones I had before were chosen for me. Thank you for even taking a look at this thread.
 
Hey zetapulse, how are you doing? I hope everything is good with you? Im so sorry to hear about the role of the L6 in your life, I would suggest you to get the E75 because I believe it is one of the best phone of Nokia so far.

Nokia E75 Black Quadband HSDPA GPS (Unlocked) will full fill all your requirements, it is really one of the best phones for business purpose, I saw my Boss using it, its pretty quick actually its very quick, not slow like the L6 at least. Its dimensions are 111.8 x 50 x 14.4 mm, 69 cc & weights only 139 grams, the phone is damn stylish with a touch of true elegance. Don't worry bout the card slot, it does support Micro SD. The screen of the E75 is 2.4 inches and its not touch screen. The camera is pretty decent too 3.2 MP with 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus & LED flash.

I have no idea why im writing so much about the E75, im sure you know all of this, right?
 
I really DO know all that. I've definitely researched it & the only thing keeping me from buying it is that all its features are overkill, not just for me as a student, but for this country! (Jordan)

I wouldn't need GPS here, I don't even think it's supported. HSDPA would be useless since I don't intend to use it to browse the web (WAY too expensive. Even ADSL for your home here is still in its early stages & very expensive). Quadband is, well, I guess it wouldn't make a difference for me whether I had it or not.

It's an terrific phone for sure, & the price matches its value excellently. If more people would tell me that I really should just get that, then I will, but if anyone has a slightly less "overkill" phone to suggest that would save me some money, I'd be glad to hear your input.
 
so, "the right phone" isn't really right unless it satisfies you... but you dont want high end features bcoz it's over kill. hmmm.
for me, the N95 has always been a good choice. or try the Nokia 5800.

Hey zetapulse, did you already buy your cell phone yet? Couple of minutes ago I was playing with my dads E51. I realized that this phone is one of the coolest Nokia phones.

The E51 is really reasonable in price and believe when i say its worth it. It has good music quality, camera is also pretty decent.

The E51 looks pretty cool & stylish, it has a hard body (typical Nokia), so you won't have to worry bout the longevity....
 
Oh hey, I almost forgot about this post I started.

So, in the confused state I was in (dieing phone, exams), I went ahead & bought the e75. It's all good.

Pros: Nice design, feels light but is strong, qwerty keyboard is easy to get used to, lots of default programs that are helpful

Cons: Unimpressive load times for programs, I find the numeric keypad hard to use, no bass at all when playing music, internet browser is not fully functional.

I'm satisfied, but as I thought, it was too much for me. I don't need everything it has to offer, so I can't take full advantage of it. I feel like I should've just gone for a Nokia 5310-XpressMusic, but it's too late now, so I'm sticking with my e75, but if I get a chance to sell it at a good price & buy myself the 5310, just to break even or maybe a little profit, I'd do it (overall loss anyway).
