Time Team

Sunday 3rd October according to the Radio Times website:

No, this is only the end of "part 1" of the 2010 series. I saw the same thing in the Radio Times, and a search found this on the "Unofficial Time Team Site":


The only slight difference is that it looks like the series is split 6 then 7 instead of the other way round. That is also backed up by the Channel 4 website which lists 6 episodes numbered 1,2,3,5,6,7. At a guess the "missing" episode either needed more edits, or looked better for the start of "part 2" of the series.

Time Team is one of my favourite programmes. I've watched it from the very start and I would be livid if it was cancelled.
 
It's hard to watch Time Team without suspecting the "time deadlines" are artificially contrived, entirely for dramatic effect. Why do so many "projects" come up with such a small "time window?"
I often think that they could probably have more time if they asked for it.

And on the Channel 4 TV Show blog they say it's 7PM

Having been lucky enough to work behind the scenes on one of the Time Team digs (I did finds washing for them on the Roman dig in Castleford back in 2001), I can confirm that the (filmed) dig is indeed just three days long. :)

There are sometimes more trenches than are shown, I think, and sometimes they come in during current excavations. As far as I can remember, the one in Cas had been going for a few months, because a friend's son was one of the local archaeologists.
 
There seem to be a few missing faces - I expect it is down to money......C4 has not got much!
Helen Geake seems to being given more to do this time.

Are you saying then it's the programme makers that only allow them three days and not circumstances?
If that is the case, then it is an artificially contrived deadline.

I'd have thought that if any discovery were important enough, they should be allowed more time, it might be more interesting than just watching "Metal Mickey" (with his ever increasing girth), rushing about. He'll have a heart attack if he doesn't slow down.
 
The whole ethos of TT from the start, was to present archaeology in a more exciting way, hence the "3 day to find out" format.

I expect to be shot down on this by the more knowledgeable, but some of the TT digs do end up as broader examinations as far as I was aware.

Also, arent many of the senior archaeologists teachers/proffesors, so are limited in their time away from their jobs?.
 
My husband still loves all the reruns of Time Team.
My favourite series was the second series where they had Robin, the historian, who would do some local research away from the site.

When we visited Buckingham Palace we saw the Time Time there but missed seeing the episode on TV. Hope they show that one again.
