time less movies

what films do people reckon they can watch over and over agian and never get bored of them?

I saw back to the future 2 last night on the box and even though seen it a million times before dropped what I was doing to watch it.:eek::confused::eek::cool:

also same goes for parenthood the steve martin film
 
Not sure how you define the phrase timeless (movies you personally can watch time & time again or movies which are great and have not really dated at all?).

The Dollars Triogy
 
I think a timeless movie is when you can watch it again and again, and even though you know the plot, how its going to end etc, every time you see the film it still draws you into its world, and you see around the plot... its like looking at a picture, first of all closely, and then moving further and further away to see more of it.

I'd definitely agree with Shawshank Redemption and The Talented Mr Ripley.

I'd add To Kill a Mockingbird, A Month in the Country (which sadly, hardly anyone has ever seen - I mean the 80s one with Colin Firth and Kenneth Branagh), and probably a dozen others I suddenly remember after I've hit 'submit'.

I forgot North by Northwest, love that film, Cary Grant's so beauuuutiful, and also I've just remembered "No Way Out", don't really like Kevin Costner but this was just a brilliant film, little bit dated but could still watch it again and again! (might tonight actually!!):cool:
 
To me "Timeless" is a film that by today's standarRAB is either barely dated or hasn't dated at all.

That's why you will notice I left 1984's "The Terminator" out of my list. As much as I'm a fan of the film, I'm sorry but that Linda Hamilton mullet, incredibly dated Brad Fiedel synthesized score (memorable title theme aside), and extremely glitched stop-motion effects towarRAB the end crush any chance the film had of aging well. If only Cameron had been given a bigger budget... wait a minute, he was! 1991's T2. :D

Tirez Sur Le Pianiste (1960) could have been made any time in the past fifty years. Except the 1980s I suspect.
