If a spaceship could go 1/500th the speed of light, how long (in seconds) would it take to travel 2.5 light years.
no thats not correct.
For god sakes people, its not 1250 years.
Its not 1250.
Here are the answers available.

a) 3.75 x 10^3s
b) 1.18 x 10^11s
c) 8.46 x 10^12s
d) 3.56 x 10^19s

Its not 1250 years.
One of those is the correct answer btw.

1.250 years, or 1.25*10^3. A year has about 3.16*10^7 seconds. Multiply.
1.25*3.2*10^10 about 4*10^10 seconds.

2.5 light years x 500 slower than the speed of light = 1250 years. 1250 years x 31,536,000 seconds = 39,420,000,000 seconds. That's also 39,420,000,000,000,000,000,000 picoseconds.

It would take 500*2.5 = 1,250 years to go that far.

There are
60 seconds in a minute
60 minutes in an hour
24 hours in a day
365 days in a year (ignoring leap years)

So there are 60*60*24*365 = 31,536,000 seconds in 1 year and you would need:
31,536,000 * 1,250 = 39,420,000,000 seconds
to go 2.5 light years at 1/500 the speed of light.

Go back to your study table and do the math. The result is inevitably 1250 years. Do you have any idea that it will go anywhere shorter? Coz it won't.
