I need a way to delay an input (switch) by 5 seconds which will turn on an output (LED). So basically someone holds the switch for 5 seconds and the output will go high, but of its not held for 5 seconds then it resets. Can anyone find a circuit which will do this on the internet - with a diagram preferably?

Thanks

1. Start with a 74HC1G14 gate driven from 5V
2. Switch goes from 5V to a 5.1Meg resistor.
3. The resistor goes to a 1uF ceramic capacitor. The other side of the capacitor goes to ground. The juncion of the R&C goes to a 74HC14 gate.
4. The output of the 74HC1G14 goes to a 499ohm resistor and your LED. The other end of the LED goes to 5V.

so there you go.
