Time Autoupdate on Rogers with the E61 and E62

I have a european E61 purchased in Toronto and I have never been able to get it to properly update time when we are on DST with Rogers. I never seem to have any problems with Cingular when travelling in the U.S. It shows local time as -3 GMT when it should be showing -4 GMT so the time shows on my phone as an hour later that it should be. I have applied the DST patch for the phone and I have the latest firmware 3.0633.09.04. Is anyone else having this trouble? I would be interested in knowing if the Rogers branded E62s work correctly.

I've been having the same problem with my E62. Rogers is sending out GMT-3 as the offset for EDT, when it should be GMT-4.

The E62 itself seems to know what timezone it's in, and the GMT that the network is sending out is correct. Simply setting the time zone to "Toronto" makes the phone display the correct time.

To be fair, Rogers' offsets have frequently been loopy in the past as well. Both my S-E Z520a and T68i frequently get offsets from the Rogers network like GMT+9 and GMT-12 at seemingly random intervals.

Unfortunately, on the E61/E62, setting the time zone manually turns OFF network updates entirely (at least on the S-E phones I can set my own time zone but still get the time from the network).

It is a known issue with the Rogers network in major urban areas (like GTA and GMA).

The only area around the golden horseshoe where the network time actually works is once you hit Burlington/Hamilton area all the way to Niagara.

Once you hit Oakville (going towards GTA), time goes way off.

Whenever I go to Niagara, I turn auto-update ON...but then turn it OFF once it syncs the time correctly.

There's another similar thread on the same subject. It seems that Rogers/Fido's Eastern Standard time shows GMT -3, instead of the correct -4...The DST patch has no effect for some, including me. So instead of reinstalling the firmware as suggested by some, I just manually set the correct time...
