Tim Curry

Tim Curry !
Yes superb ott performaces from the is actor are the norm.

If he gets the right part, which he does more often than not he is unbeatable.

Rocky and Clue already mentioned "clue was on uk tv last night" superb as ever.

But he pops up in unlikely places sometimes as a star others its a small part as in Hunt for red october "he was the doctor" not a huge part.

One favourite performance was as "dave the whale" in an episode of Monk.

He is also made for Dickensian parts as in tvs Oliver Twist where he played Bill Sykes.

Would love to see him as Scrooge one day

I liked it so much I kept a VHS copy of the original transmission - I think it was the first thing I recorded when I got my DER rental Ferguson! I've only viewed it once since, but as I recall, has never ever been retransmitted. It was shot totally on 16mm so wouldn't stand a theatrical or DVD reissue.

I was lucky enough to see Tim on Broadway twice in Spamalot, where he plays a very funny version of King Arthur. This is by far his best role - it perfectly suits his voice, sense of humor and facial expressions. I was even luckier to meet him after the show. He was very cordial and polite, signing as many programs as he could, and posing for pictures with happy fans.

I have been a Tim Curry fan for a long time and hope to see Spamalot again in the future. Tim's stage work seems to be his best and his current role is just perfect for him - he is the heart and sole of the show.

Have loved Tim Curry for at least 15 years now and think he is fab... Saw him again recently in an episode of Monk!! and just recently watched The Shadow again.

It is true a lot of people often say "who?" but dont realise how many animation voices his does too, you will often find me saying "thats tim" and checking the credits..

Loved him in "IT", The 3 Muskateers and it goes without saying "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (jason donovan comes a close 2nd as Frank live though)...
Also being a bit of a gaming freak thought he was really cool as the 1st and 3rd incarnations of Gabriel Knight.

He was in Hunt for the Red Oktober, too.

A serious role which he pulled off quite well. According to McTiernan's commentary track, there was initial resistance (from the studio) to him casting Curry in the role of Doctor, but he turned out alright opposite people like Sean Connery and Sam Neill if you have a look.

Barzo

I saw he had done the voice of Scrooge which made me think he could carry it off in a full performance.

Many people have taken the part some turned out great others are just ok, don't think there has been a really bad scrooge yet.

Unless someone knows better.
