Tiger's paying his wife 5 million, re-working pre-nup because of his recent acts, why?

I don't really know how pre-nups work so enlighten me as to why Tiger is paying his wife 5 million for cheating? Is this mandated, is it a good faith gesture, seems like a steep price to pay. It's no surprise they're working things out, geez, 5 million to forget about it.

Chiefly, do you think this was an agreement already stipulated or a good faith gesture on Tiger's part?

A prenuptial is a contract so it can't be changed unless both parties agree SO there are two possibilities:

1) There was a "No cheating" condition stating the re-do (or some kind of "fine/ punishment") if anyone get caught.

OR

2) He was told by wife "Or we re-do the prenuptial or I walk away."

I go for option (1) since a good pre-nup would normally include infidelity conditions.

By the way it's not just $5 Millions; the whole re-work of the pre-nup will be for a value of about $75 Millions.

And I should add that that indiscreet and trashy mistress selling her story to the tabloids is not worht that kind of money.

I hope Tiger had learned his lesson; betraying such a lovely and classy wife of him, for a "gold-digging loser" wasn't worth all the trouble he's having now.

Also it should be noted that Tiger could refuse to re-do the pre-nup and just ask for a divorce in order to keep the money SO obviously there is some "good faith/ guilty conscience/ trying to save the marriage" going on here.

5 million is not a whole lot of money to him.... of coarse it will affect him, but he has a TON more money than that
