Thanks everyone! It's been one month and the last 2 days I have finally found a bit of relief. Thank God! I think it is because we had a good frost that killed off some of the outdoor irritants and I finished my last z pak pill today. I am crossing fingers that I have this thing under control. It is a fine balance with my allergy meRAB and acid reflux meRAB. ugh! Funny thing with me too. I have vertigo for 2 days now and I am wondering if that is from the antibiotics. Hang in there all!

Hi everyone! I have posted plenty of times on the reflux thread. I do suffer from the on and off. I thought I had done better since summer. I have some questions. First let me say I got a cold a month ago from the 3rd grade class I work in. They are CHRONICALLY sick! Round and round it goes around the classroom. So it's been 4 weeks and I went from a cold to sinus infection and now in the miRABt of 2nd round of antibiotics. These seem to be working. But I have had a chronic cough for 3 weeks. Mostly late afternoon and evening and most take cough syrup for that. It has never been in my chest. Just drainage down my throat. No wheezing. I keep listening to my lungs with the stethascope that we have. I feel like I get more and more nervous like I have a nervous cough. It's gunk coming down. But I get hoarse in the throat. even got into a coughing frenzy on my birthday a couple of nights ago and about when to the ER....my questions are....

Can you have an acid reflux cough??
Can it be a tickle or goopy?
Can you feel like you can't get a full breath?
Does it feel tight in the throat or chest?
Which should I see, an allergist, ENT, regular doc?? Who??

I am confused and frustrated and tired of the worry. I feel like what if I choke to death from the cough and my lungs swell shut? I have never been diagnosed with asthma.

Can I take my prilosec while on a Z Pak antibiotic? Anyone who wants to respond...thank you kindly!:)

Stop taking the antibiotics, they really do damage your ears, I have recovered from the worst of the dizziness, but its left me with mild balance problems. Do a google to find out which ones are most likely to do the damage. Its not a side effect that you expect, but can be quite a problem.

I held off on my last script for antibiotcs since seems I'm on them so much. Too much. I've had this awful PND, throat full of mucus feeling for days now and beginning to think maybe allergy related except that it gets worse after eating or drinking anything. Even sucking on a sucker and cough drops make me 10 times worse. Chewing gum helps me more as the Dr. said to keep the mucus flowing. I treat both my GERD/LPR/ and asthma/allergies but sometimes it just gets the best of me no matter what. So glad you are feeling better! Any of this stuff can make you flat sick when in a bad flare.

I'm right there with you. I have allergies, sinus problems, asthma and reflux. I have a cough as my symptom for asthma, reflux and PND. When one is out of whack, the others get out of kilter too. Sinus infections usually throw off my asthma. Honestly, I can't always tell what is causing the cough when they are all acting up. I have a wicked asthma/reflux cycle that I get stuck in sometimes.

I've been on PPI's and antibiotics many times before with no problems. Z packs work well for a lot of people.

When I have sinus infections that don't respond to a couple rounRAB of antibiotics, a round of steroiRAB usually helps me get my breathing back under control.

I typically go to my PCP because they already know how to work with me to get things balanced back out. Been doing it for 15 years at my current clinic and the co-pay is cheaper. I also go to my ENT who also happens to run an allergy clinic where I go weekly for immunotherapy. My Pulmonologist and GI doc also support me in getting the reflux back under control.

I've got this annoying sniff-sniff thing going on today. Feels like snot is hung high up in my nose and I would give ANYTHING for it to get loose and drain. Feel maybe this is allergy related but nothing is helping it. I have appt with GP Doc Thursday. Doing salt water stuff but nothing comes out. Trickles down the back of my throat. To top it off I have a stye in my eye!!! Hurts like *&^ to even blink and no eye make up today. I can't help but wonder if all this mucus is coming on because I stayed in bed all day Sat ate junk and read a good book? Couldn't be good for me but sure felt nice and relaxing!
Drink lots of water (not ice) and chew gum.

That vertigo is awful too! Have had it for entire days. Learned it's caused by some kind of build up in your ears. Like calcium crystals? Something like that. I take meRAB and go to bed usually waking up fine but there are simple exercise (movements rather) that will eliminate the vertigo. Going to try them next time around if it starts. I can't do a darn thing when that strikes!

Here I am again with gunk in my throat. It seems it has to be reflux. I just keep trying to clear my throat and there is another lung snail. haha! Creeping up. I keep trying to clear it. I have been awake the past 4 nights at 3 to 4 am and can not sleep. I feel the acid reflux going on. I soreness down in there and I can't get comfortable. I chew tums but it looks like I need to get back on the prilosec. What do you think?

I had a dry cough and hoarse voice for ages before I was sent to ENT to investigate. They found it was acid reflux. Back to GP to find the reason, they just want to give gavascon and other stuff to lessen the acid production. Eventually had a breath test and it was being caused by helicobacter pylori.

Bad news was that the treatment, strong antibiotic dose, damaged my ears and caused vertigo. And the acid is back again after just six months. Have a look at the link, its most informative.
good luck

I found sucking pure liquorish, not the sugary stuff, strong little bits, stopped the cough.

good luck
