Thyroid disease and lung issues? Help!

First off, get him off of the weed. That can be causing issues on it's own. By now he is addicted to it. It's an illegal drug for a reason. The phlegm could be because of the weed, as can the hyeractivity and the anxiousness.

But I would have him get a thorough check. AND have him tell the doc about his smoking also.

He is def. addicted to the marijuana. He has been using it since his early to mid-twenties. He wants to stop and does try, but never succeeds. I have brought him home pamplets for Marijuana Anonymous meetings, but he doesn't want to go. I don't nag him enough about it, because it just creates stress in our relationship. I hope he stops one day soon! Thanks for the post!

The visible swelling in his neck, the failure to gain weight even when trying, and the major anxiety all point to the possibility of hyperthyroidism, which can be triggered by major life stress such as the loss he's enduring. It probably would not explain the morning congestion, however.

I don't know much about marijuana but always have heard it's supposed to mellow one out, isn't it? Thyroid disease would explain the anxiety more logically, from what I know. He should have his thyroid function tested... Tests for TSH, free T4, free T3, and TSI antibodies.
