Thundercats To Hit The Big Screen

I was telling my mate the other day that this should be next after the release of Transformers.

Danger Mouse the Movie next!!!!
 
Yeah me and my mate were doing the same thing as we talking about how if the Transformers film was a sucess at the box office that we might see a Thundercats film. Then today it was confirmed!
Although I am worried about it as Transformers is an easy idea to bring to the big screen but Thundercats could be a harder idea. I just hope they cast unknowns in the main roles and dont go for big stars!
 
A live action movie sounRAB like a disaster! Just like the Turtles was.

Why don't they just do a cartoon of it, they could even try getting the original voices! Seems to be cartoons went out a long time ago, its now CGI stuff :cry:
 
If this does see the light of day and actually comes out, I am just a bit sceptical as to what direction a film like this goes in.
Which Thundercats will be in it? I am presumming it will be the orginal ones rather then Lynx-O Bengali etc and the rest of the Thunderarians.
also what will the plot be as the ast we saw of Mum-Rah was that he was confined to a different galaxy, by the Ancient Spirites of Evil if I remember correctly, so I don't know how he can come back. All though Lion-o's through away line at the end "....You can never defeat evil completely, it will always be there" could leave a way to bring him back.
Also will the Book of Omens be present?
So the plot will be intersting, I just know it will be one of these films that just ignores the cartoon series on which it is based and just gives us a completey random set off events, with no explanation as to how they got to this situatation from the last time we saw them.
It will be interesting to see which direction they decide to take with this film.
 
I for one am looking forward to the Thundercats movie, it will show them chavs that the tv we had in our childhood is better to make a movie from that the crap that gets shown thesedays

So who would people like to see cast in the roles of the Thundercats? I just hope they don't give the roles of Wily-Kat and Wily-Kit to some god-awful, over-acting, precocious American sh*ts!
 
When you say Thundercats are you meaning to include the new Thundarians as well? Because I think whomever will play Bengali will have to be covered in a white suit from head to toe!
Also who can play Lynx-O? Who is good at playing someone blind?
The costume for Cheetara should be intersting to say the least!:D
 
Cool - thundercats was one of my favorite shows as a kid - Just hope they dont balls it up.

Another nostalgic cartoon making its big screen debut very soon is Battle of the Planets - although it will be based more on the Janpanese incarnation - "Gatchaman". I think this is going to be a CGI movie rather than live action though.
 
Do you mean that film that was the highest grossing independent film of all time? Not exactly a "disaster"

And that is actually pretty good - dark, moody and easily comparable to the better comic book adaptations.
 
 
I havnt got very high hopes for the Thundercats film after reading this on Superherohype about the director:

"Video game veteran Jerry O'Flaherty will direct Warner Bros.' CG-animated Thundercats feature, based on the popular '80s cartoon series, comic book and toy line.

The project marks the first feature directing gig for O'Flaherty, who served as an art director on such bestselling games as "Gears of War" and "Unreal Tournament 3" for Epic Games and the "Command and Conquer" series from Westwood Studios.

"It feels like a natural thing for me to step into," O'Flaherty said. "Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the video game experience."

O'Flaherty will now work with screenwriter Paul Sopocy on the script.

Warner-based Paula Weinstein will produce through her Spring Creek Productions, along with Dick Robertson and Lew Korman.

The origin story expanRAB on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

The property revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee the planet of Thundera, which is destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer bent on killing them off."
