I have the same experience occasionally. In fact, I have this right now. Perhaps you should get your daughter to see a pulmonologist. I am also considering on seeing one as well, since I feel it could be stomach acid aspirating into my windpipe. But then the protective reflexes like coughing would come into effect right? Maybe the acid impairs this reflex??? I think a pulmonologist would be able to answer those questions well.
Its more like this cold/minty-sensation going into windpipe every time I breath. It does get better over time, but then it comes back again. Probably acid reflux causing it perhaps.
