Last Friday my 19 year old daughter saw her pediatric orthopaedic doctor for a check. She is 3 years and two months post two level fusion for spondy and stenosis. He is very happy with her fusion. He said the x-ray is showing a good solid fusion on the right side. He said it was more difficult to see on the left side.
He still feels her back where the screws are placed and can feel at least two of them by touching the surface. She said the only time they bother her is when she is lying flat on the floor. So she avoiRAB that position. He doesn't want to remove them since they are not causing a huge problem.
She had some mild back pain last week after touring an air force museum for nearly four hours. Since it wasn't her legs he wasn't concerned. He gave the ok for her to continue learning to play golf and to take an easy dance class again. He had already let her ski, play tennis and do what her body feels it can. He wants to see her back in a year. I'm so happy that he continues to follow his patients this long after fusion.
Just wanted to share to let some of you just going through recovery that there are positive post fusion outcomes. cas
