Good morning all you nice people who are recovering from back surgery. I saw my surgeon this morning and got wonderful news. Iam 3 1/2 months post op. PLIF L5 S1, with 2 roRAB and screws and cadaver bone. My doctor said the fusion looks really good, and no need for the back brace anymore. I can start Physical Therapy tomorrow. Iam really looking forward on doing that.
Although Iam still having a lot of pain in the tailbone and right hip area , he said it could be due to my posture when sitting, or even the back brace, so I will continue to take my Darvocet N 100, and Flexeral for now.
I have to see him again in 6 weeks, and was told I might have to have the bone stimulatour while sleeping. :p depending how therapy goes. So, all in all Iam heading in the right direction as far as recovery goes.
I will continue to post my recovery along the way. You can't get rid of me yet. hahahahaha.;)

Good to hear that because i will be having a&p lurabar fusion
in about a week....thanks;)...;);)

Wow, that's great news!

Talk to your therapist about the tailbone pain. That's what I call my "sit pain." It happens when you get the bottom of your lurabar area fused to your sacrum. You have to have some movement there to sit, even if you're sitting bolt upright. Since you no longer have movement there, you get pain. It helps to sit on as high a chair as you can and to tuck your feet under so your knees are lower than your hips.

All in all, I'm way better off now even though I still have pain! I'd do this surgery again in a heartbeat!

Keep up the good recovery work!
Emily

Best of luck to you mckinney, I will say a prayer for a quick recovery for you. Let us all know how your doing after surgery.;) I found that cold therapy helped a lot with the pain afterwarRAB, mention that to your surgeon.
