I am wondering what people think about the public school education system in the US. Are we limiting children by the way we teach them? I attended public school for all 12 years, and I felt very stifled by it. I actually lived in an amazing school district with a lot of funding, and very high average test scores, but is this what is important?
What are some other ways schools can measure the knowledge of their students besides standardized testing? Are there any new schools for elementary school children that are trying out new options that don't include trapping kids in desks for 7 hours a day?
Thanks,
