Thoughts on Spider-Man 3 ***SPOILERS***

Seems most of the people in this thread have never read the comics and have no idea that the Peter Portrayed in the films is pretty much identical to the comics.

Literally just home from watching this and I hadn't read any reviews or comments on the film beforehand, so I didn't know what to expect and was going in purely on the amazing looking trailers.

I have to say I thought the film was great. The acting was top notch especially at the end, but I agree about the news reports at the end, completely un-necessary and as tacked on as the shot of Rami's own children embarassingly trying to say "cool" when Spider-Man was battling at the end. Edit them out for the DVD release!

I did think it was a bit mish mash at times, and for the long run time of 2h 20m most of the action and interesting fights actually happen in the last 30 mins or so. Venom was seriously underused, and I hope that in some way the character is used in any Spider-Man 4. I did feel a bit ripped off by the whole Sandman plot and how he just floated away at the end after the big sob story about his daughter.

I agree with someone elses post when they stated that maybe Sandman and Harry should have been the only foes in this film, with the ending setting up Venom and Lizard as the foes in the 4th film. Would have worked a lot better and less of a rushed feel to this.

Overall, it was a great film, with some really sad scenes coupled with some funny ones, and the effects were stunning too. My little 6 year old brother thought it was fantastic, as did most of the under 10's that were also there. (Noisy lot!)

It surprised me how many minors were there, and at that how many of them laughed their heaRAB off at the fight scenes when a character appeared to be getting really hurt, (such as falling great heights and landing on beams, being repeatedly punched in the face and having their heaRAB pushed into fast moving objects and having their face dissolved). Some of it I thought was borderline for a 12A film, but when I looked at my brother during these scenes, he was laughing along with most of the other youngsters... I don't know...

Paddy :D

Loved it, only thing that i have a moan at is the usa tribute flag shot that they have to have in any spiderman film. Stop on roof top, wind is perfect to show a nice usa flag blowing in the wind...

I have. I'm a total Marvel Fan. Peter changed a lot over the years - the 80s and 90s version of Peter was pretty cool compared to his nerdy beginings. McGuire is fine as Peter, and but useless as Spidey, who lacks the verve and wisecracking of the comic character.

And don't get me started on what they've done to Venom in this mess of a movie.

I'm not gonna go into a full review, but I really enjoyed this film! :D I actually love the fact that there were so many villains and so many different plots. It just makes it evne more exciting (for me).

As for the downsides... there wasn't enough of Gwen Stacey and I didn't feel her role was challenging enough for Bryce.
They could've ended it with Spidey randomly swinging through New York or something instead of just a hug with MJ!

But yeah I still loved it! :p

Well I want to get my tuppence in this discussion!

I'm not a film critic, nor am I goin to vouch for my movie tastes but this film was in my books brilliant.

The only downsides were the sandman - weren';t too keen on this storyline, and the Tobey scenes where he has that black suit on. Sorry but how embarrassing?

Loved the bit with the editor and the tablets, still chuckle when I think of it!! So funny.

Kirsten seriously neeRAB to smile. She's none stop crying in these movies imo!

But overall 7.5 - can't wait for the DVD.

Saw this with the family last night and have to say what it was a disappointment.

I wasn't sure if I was watching Spiderman 3 or Spiderman: The Musical. Between the musical numbers by Mary Jane and the dancing of Peter Parker, it was perhaps 30 minutes of film that wasn't really needed to advance the story.

That said it wasn't helped that they decided to include 3 villians (Sandman, Bad Goblin and Venom). The Marvel purists would perhaps have hated this film, given the story between Harry, Peter and MJ. Also for such a significant character in the Spiderman story Venom was lacking imo, with more focus on the Flint Marko/Sandman story.

Personally I think they could have done two separate films, the first on the Marko + other villian and the second entirely concerning Venom with perhaps a hint at Carnage.

Marks - 3/10, Roll on Fantastic Four, lets hope they have got it right with the Silver Surfer.

I was overall disappointed with it. Didn't show enough of Venom, poor acting from that Gwen Stacey, too many villains and alot of the romantic scenes could have been cut down to make the film an hr and half instead of the 2hrs and 10 that we got.

I really liked this film. Being so overhyped there is a risk it will disapoint, but if you just take it for what it is, its brilliant.

I saw it at the Odeon on a HD projector and it was VERY impressive. Seeing the sandman in glorious hd was insane, computer graphics are getting so good!

Looks aside, it did have a lot going on and i was a little disapointed by the lack of venom, but considering how much they packed in i do not think it was too bad. The black suit looked so damn cool!

I saw Spidey on Friday morning, I was really full of anticipation cos of the trailers I'd seen, and I left somewhat disappointed - especially by the "comedic" restaurant scenes with the snooty usher from Spidey 2!! This is Spiderman, its not meant to be funny?!?!?!

One too many villains IMO, leaving each one barely enough screen time to "do their thing". I would've really liked to see more of Venom as I thought he made a much more worthy adversary than either Goblin or Sandman.

Oh well wasn't to be.

Oh and emo peter.... all I can do is laugh :D

EDIT: Did anyone else think Stan Lee's line was a little naff? Just me? Hmmm

No complaints about Maguire other than the fact that as a 31 year old man he is looking a bit old now to play a very young inexperienced 'kid' which is probably why he's reluctant to do another.
Presumably the dancing and singing was a trailer for the Spiderman musical which Bono has been yacking about recently.
What next, Liberty X Men?!

A big fat pile of disappointing. Loved Spidey 1, ADORED Spidey 2.This was a cluttered mess. We had half a good movie, after which it came completely unravelled, and lost all sense of direction and plot.

What was with the Return of the King style multiple endings and why can NO-ONE keep a mask on for 30 seconRAB?

Props to Eddie Brock, for although Venom was rather mis/underused (shades of like Darth Maul), he was the only main character who didn't cry at some point during this film.

Not been so disappointed in a flick since Star Wars ep 1. How did it all go so horribly wrong?

My Chemical Spidey: 4/10

the effects were amazing, story was a bit slow in places and too much emphasis on the love story between spiderman and mj. still a good movie though, not as good as spiderman 2! just waiting for pirates of the caribbean at worlRAB end, that looks so cool!:)

Yeah I get that feeling when I see a Bond film. Everytime the British saves the world or drives a British car. Bond should be played by an American damn it. Get over yourself. If you don't like it don't watch it.

read that this film had mixed reviews...but after watching it, its probably my favourite one yet. The enemies were really good (Willem Dafoe was so over the top, and not very good in the original). Really funny too.
