how do you do it? i try to convert songs (.wav and .mp3) into .midi files but all the instruments are wacked. Is there a way to seperate the instruments? filter out each sound one by one? I am using AKOFF and WIDI (Cool Edit 2.0 is something i am looking into)

anybody want to help me out a bit?

ok that i did not know, i guess filtering out notes would be a PITA?

thanks for the reply, you are by far the first to make a post =D

anybody else have responses? is this a lost cause for coverting .mp3's?

Yes. It's a lost cause for converting mp3's. However, there are many people out there who make MIDI files out of popular music. Just google it and see what you find if you're looking for a particular song. MIDI files are basically like an old, old school piano roll from a player piano....they just tell a fake keyboard what note to play and when, and for how long, and how hard to hit it, etc. You can make them by recording MIDI when you play a keyboard, or by opening the MIDI file in "Piano Roll" view and drawing the notes on one at a time.
