Thoracic (Possibly Scheuermann's) Kyphosis Causing My Chronic Health Problem?

Hi all,

Over the last eight years I've had chronic upper back (particularly the left side of the upper back) pain/tightness and I also have constant 'tightness' around the left side of my head/forehead which adversely affects my concentration and even my eye sight (as the 'tightness' is on the left side of my head near/where the left eye is). The 'tightness' on the left side of the head can often feel like a 'left head headache' when the 'tightness' sensation feel particularly intense.

I also feel that the hamstring in my left leg often feels 'tingly' and my left foot often feels 'heavy' or 'tight'.

My upper back is rounded and I've been told by a doctor that it is clearly indicative of kyphosis and he suggested it may be scheuermann's kyphosis (meaning the kyphosis is developmental in nature and not environmental). I also have mild scoliosis which I've read often accompanies scheuermann's kyphosis.

I think it's likely that my kyphosis is causing the referred 'tightness' sensation in the left side of my head/forehead as well as the 'tingly' sensation I feel in my left leg and the 'heavy' sensation I feel in my left foot (sometimes when it's really intense I almost feel like I'm limping).

I only feel the pain/tightness in the left side of my upper back so I think it can't just be a coincidence that I'm having these other symptoms on the left side of my body.

I asked for a referral to see a neurosurgeon (as I've seen physios, osteos chiros, tried exercise and muscle relaxants without any success) as they specialise in the spine, nerves and referred symptoms so I'm hoping that this will be the appropriate specialist for me to see.

I would appreciate your opinion and input, thanks.

Jerry,

You might get better response if you post on the spinal cord disorder board. The spinies are very helpful. This board is primarily lower back folks so we aren't as well versed in the upper lurabar area.
