Is it me or is all of the android devices get old after 1 update. i have the the original mytouch 3g. i bought this phone cuz i thought the t-mobile G1wasnt going to get any more updates after 1.5. i paid $500 for this phone on release date just not to get left behind. i also want to enjoy all the updates and new features the updates have to offer. then google finally releases a phone and not a with google logo on other branded android devices. i guess this was the real answer for the updates issues with phone companies. i would like to buy the nexus one but the thing is they want $530 for there device unlocked. so i was going to use the update provided, now i cant even get it for a discount price. to may restrictions that prevents me from getting it. so i called google and asked them if they do a payment plan where i can pay them piece by piece until they have all the money then for them to ship the phone. they dont even offer that kinda service but they want the phone to sell. this is outrageous for google to be so strict on there product. now im left behind when it comes to updates and soon i know all good apps will be only runned on current fireware and i cant enjoy them until i update my phone. this update system needs to change i refuse to root to answer my problems i shouldnt have to root my phone to have a update.

man what is up with all the android hate today....

yep sucks that's how Google chooses to sell their device. all not locked down and cheaper without the contract and stuff...

so much hateraide. if I was feeling a little more energetic I'd satisfy my curiosity over IP addresses. but I'm tired and had a long day at work.

dont get me wrong im not hating, just upset that my device isnt receiving a update. i was one of the people who brought and supported the 1st android device tmobile G1. just wish there was a better way to get the nexus one. since all the other devices i brought are outdated after 1 update. everyone is pointing there finger at each other but no onoe wants to take the blame. between Google, Htc and tmobile wants to give answers but they all want to point fingers. i love android platform i always battle my friends that have the iphones. its honestly no contest between the tmobile mytouch 3g original vs iphone 3gs. i may not like steve jobs and his half bitten apple phone but at lease all his phones are updated at the same time.

And the 4.0 iPhone update isn't coming to a phone prior to the 3g, and the 3g is only getting a partial update. Hit up xda, the mytouch can be upgraded to have just about everything the new phones have, and cyanogen says he may have some improvements coming to it soon.

Well, sorry... but that is Moore's Law for ya

If you are not willing to get comfortable "hacking" your device and using third-party dev solutions to make older hardware faster... then you will probably feel left behind.

Smartphones are "hot" for about a year and then there are always bigger and better devices.... and the older ones naturally get left in the dust. I would rather have this extreme where technology is rapidly advancing than the other extreme where technology is stagnant and boring. You cannot expect your device to run the latest OS that is available 2 years from now

I understand your frustration, but the lifecycle of a smartphone is even shorter than the lifecycle of a computer. In order to extend your phone's life you will have to get into custom ROMs, hacks, mods, etc.
