This is why I probably won't buy the N95....

While I could not put it quite like skagen did, I was rather disappointed with the evolution of s60v3. See my rant in enhanced s40 vs s60v3. Simple things that should easily be possible with a smart phone are not.

I am seriously considering ditching s60 and rather than upgrading to n73/76/95, considering the upcoming s40 6300. At least as a phone it will be more useful than these slow laggy/buggy/crashy s60 n/e series.

I can only question your accusation of s60 as having poor software choices with a grain of salt, since this is the first time I've read about anybody complaining about these apps missing. You're certainly not in the majority, and still haven't proven to me the importance of these apps. Instead of focusing on proving me wrong just because I'm unfamiliar with these unknown apps you deem so important, why don't you take the 5 seconds to explain why it's so important, and why other users haven't complained about it yet.

I'm not familiar with this thing you call "roaming" since my provider doesn't charge me roaming fees, and if I was ever out of the country, I'd have an international SIM card.

GoogleMaps may not be as accurate as the Lumisoft maps, (which seem to cost an aweful lot, versus a paper map that might cost you $5) but it's still a possibility for s60. The maps for TomTom's GPS navigation are also available. It may not be your perfect Lumisoft maps, but it doesn't mean the capabilities for maps on your smartphone is left in the dark. There's always a non-smartphone, which will only give you GoogleMaps.

As I said, I'm not proud of pirating software, but nevertheless, it's still a solution to the high cost for such applications. I won't argue that the applications are inexpensive by any means, but I'm also not going to say that piracy for these applications is in the minority either.

The answer to this whole questions isn't a solid one, since it's subjectively based on the users of the applications and phones themselves. You can't say that overall s60 is lacking in software just because your specific needs aren't met. The majority of users have no complaints about any missing software from the s60 library, and some won't use 3rd party applications at all, as crazy as it sounds. Instead of complaining about how the applications you need aren't available, why don't you drop an email to the developer and find out what can be done about it?

Apparently, the creakiness of the N73 depends on where it was manufactured, but I don't believe such things. The device is built very solid and it won't feel cheap in your hands, even if it does creak a little.

Nomal humans in Europe keep their number and roam, since we use text messages more typically and less voice, especially so when roaming.

Gee the smartphone seems to cost an awful lot when you can use a quarter intstead. Sir, you dont get it. You dont have the slightest idea about smartphoen software - dont bother. Really.

Not sure where you are going with this babble but let it suffice to say that a healthy software market would have useful applications at affordable prices, not jokers charging $15 for a clock alarm application that barely improves on the built in one. Widspread piracy is not a "solution" - is a symptom that the market is way out of whack with value/price/affordability.

Nor can one pirate software, if what you need doesnt exist - although I am sure that one is beyond your thinking capability.

Hello Mr Clueless, you think I haven't done this? And would you like to know what percentage many of them told me they have no plans to make the software? No - I'm sure you'd rather sit there babbling about things you have no idea on.

Save it, please. You really have no business discussing this topic, because you dont have the first shred of a clue what is going on.

Yo Skagen....take it down a notch will you! Jonny hasnt been venemous with you at all. He's simply (and politely IMO) stating his differences with what your saying while your throwing out bombs left and right. Nothing wrong with disagreements but your just being flat out RUDE and completely out of line.

i agree!!!!!! + wth is a smartphoen? i guess iam not a "normal human" cuse i have a second sim card for asia too! or you might be "special" that you use or like to pay more expensive roaming fees...can you say dedede(watch carlos mencia, then youll understand). plz dont ban me!!

well did a quick search of what Pocket informant is, and it seems to be windows only!! umm...last time i checked this is the s60 side!

people have diffrent views of what good softwere is!! i think good softwere are games and firefox, i still dont know what iam missing! your just like saying that i dont know what good softwere is if i dont switch to osx or vista! i dont need/want all that eyecandy!

In Europe people use the same SIM most often while travelling, because as I said, we just use text message instead and it is not expensive to text message while in another country. So why would I want to put a different SIM in my phone and miss all the messages and phone calls I normally get from people? Duh.

Bingo!
a) It is great software, but not available on S60 3rd
b) We dont have anything as good as it on S60 3rd

You've just made my point about examples of poor software availability on S60 3rd -get it? Probably not - maybe it will take another few years to sink in to your head.

to end this, it is verry simple...

if there are 1 or 2 apps that you cant live without in a particular OS, then stick with that platform, and be happy...

Are you telling me your the authority on what most Europeans use when they travel. They revert to using sms rather than voice to keep in contact. I somehow doubt that business users are throwing out thousands of T9's a day to keep up with work and family. What a blanket statement without any real research on your part. I only call you out on this as you've mentioned it numerous times and someone needs to point it out. I would like to see some hard facts stating that most Europeans that travel will use sms rather than voice.

You need to really take it down a notch.

.......and S60 is somehow inadequate because it doesnt suppor 1 crpy program that windows supports. Please go back a few pages when you completely bashed microsoft and pledged your allegiance to Nokia phones for being more people friendly...or whatever you said. Either way....if Nokias not your thing, then please go to the moto section as your just plain obnoxious at this point.

I dont think Skagen is capable of being happy based on the nastiness i've read thus far. Oh well....different strokes I guess.

Because that would render that sick looking rig useless!
...and too much ambient noise in most environments anyway. How about dictating a document and half of the words come up caramel machiato!

i think me and you are allike, because were all ways waiting for something perfect!! in reality we would be waiting forever (nokia n1000000) but i realized that you will have to give up cirtain things if you dont want to wait forever. iam getting the n95 probally after the prices stabalize abit, and after i see what the next offerings from nokia will be!!
